American Wagyu - As trade with Japan normalized in the 80's, interest was piqued in amazingly marbled Japanese Wagyu beef. It wasn't long before enterprising individuals arranged to airlift out of Japan (in custom-outfitted 737's no less) top Wagyu breeding cattle. Shortly thereafter however, the Japanese government declared Wagyu a national treasure and the export of any Japanese genetics was banned. But it was too late, the "cow" had left the barn.

Our American-raised Wagyu is directly descended from the Tajima black Wagyu line and our Akaushi selections from the Japanese Brown Wagyu.
